Frequently Asked Chiropractic Questions

What is chiropractic care?
Chiropractic care is based upon the understanding that overall good health depends upon a normally functioning nervous system, which controls all functions throughout your body. Rather than just treating the symptoms, this natural method of health care focuses on correcting the inbalance caused by our constant exposure to physical, chemical and mental stresses, which is a major contributing factor for many poor health conditions including lowered resistance, sluggish metabolism, discomfort or even pain to name a few.  World class athletes get adjusted regularly because it optimizes performance and helps every 'body' reach its potential.
Is it safe?
Yes. Chiropractic is one of the safest health disiplines in the world.

What is a chiropractic adjustment?
A chiropractic adjustment is the most common way to correct spinal subluxations. It involves body positioning and breath along with light and/or firm pressure to align, re-balance and energize the body.  Most people find that it feels good and is quite relaxing.

Dr. Eagle has knowledge of many different adjustment methods and is able to select the best technique for you based upon your condition, size, age, needs and desires.

What is a subluxation?
Subluxations are the slight distortions and interferences caused by our daily exposure to physical, chemical and mental stresses. These interfere with optimal performance physically and mentally and can be a major contributing factor in many poor health conditions.

How do subluxations happen?
Subluxations are the result of our daily exposure to physical, chemical and mental stresses.  Physical stresses can include everyday activities, habits and events such as daily sitting at our work stations, lifting, bending, standing and sleeping positions. Physical stress subluxations also occur due to accidents, including falls, car wrecks, sports injuries and more. Chemical stresses can include diet, allergies, environmental toxins, illnesses, medications and substance addictions.  Mental stresses can include challenges in realationships, at work, at home, family problems, sitting in traffic, health fears and many more things.

What are some warning signs of subluxations?
Most Subluxations are difficult to feel in ourselves, that is why periodic chiropractic checkups are so important.  There is a greater amount of motor nerves (function nerves) than sensory nerves (feeling nerves) in our bodies so there are times when there can be a significant reduction of function before any pain or sympton will alert us to a problem.

What type of education do chiropractic doctors receive?
Chiropractors have a minimum of seven years post secondary education which includes three years in an undergraduate program and four or five years at an accredited chiropractic college. Most chiropractors have a bachelors' degree in addition to their Doctor of chiropractic degree.

Do chiropractors treat conditions other than back pain?
Chiropractors provide chiropractic adjustments to remove the road blocks to health (subluxations) and to re-balance, energize and restore the vital communication and energy of the body.  Though we do not specifically treat any conditions, regular care has been effective in improving different types of soft tissue disorders including neck, back and other bodily pain as well as many other health conditions and life challenges including ADHD, allergies, asthma, ear infections, fybromyalgia, headaches, PMS, Sciatica, Scoliosis, stress, weak immune system, some causes of anxiety and depression, slow metabolism, poor posture.. just to name a few.  Regardless of how healthy or ill you consider yourself, your life can and will be enhanced by regular chiropractic care.
